Marvel Studios Developing ‘Nova’ Project With ‘Moon Knight’ Scribe Sabir Pirzada

For years, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have been wondering when the cosmic superhero known as Nova will make his debut. Well folks, it’s happening.

Marvel Studios is developing a Nova project and in charge of bringing him to life is Moon Knight scribe Sabir Pirzada. It is unknown for now whether this will be developed as a feature film or a limited series for Disney+.

Nova, whose real name is Richard Rider, was a normal kid who was randomly selected to be a member of the Nova Corps as the rest of them were dying. Quickly embracing his newfound powers, he jumps into action and becomes a charismatic, powerful force for justice across the galaxy. The character first appeared in the 1976 issue of Super Adventures. Rider later debuted in his own comic seriesThe Man Called Nova #1 written by original creator Marv Wolfman with art by John Buscema.

While the character didn’t have many run-ins with main figures of the current or past MCU, he did have some battles with the Skrulls. If Nova is eyed as a potential series for Disney+, it would be the first show not to be set on Earth.

On the other hand, Nova’s intergalactic origins seem suited for the big screen but the same could be said for the god-like Moon Knight or elastic Ms. Marvel – both of which have taken the form of a Disney+ series.

Until Marvel has a better idea as to whether or not Pirzada’s story is worth being a feature film or a six-episode series, fans can catch his work in Moon Knight when it releases 30 March 2022 on Disney+.
