‘Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair’ Revival Sees Frankie Muniz Avoid His Toxic Family

The first trailer for the upcoming Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair revival has dropped, promising more family hijinks when the limited four-episode series premieres on 10 April 2026.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair will see the return of almost all the original show’s main cast, including Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston as his father Hal, Jane Kaczmarek as his mother Lois, Chris Masterson as his eldest brother Francis, and Justin Berfield as his older brother Reese, although Caleb Ellsworth-Clark has taken over the role of Malcolm’s younger brother Dewey, originally portrayed by Erik Per Sullivan.

As seen in the trailer, the upcoming series looks to retain the tone of the original show, with a grown-up Malcolm now having a girlfriend, Tristan, and a daughter, Leah, played by Kiana Madeira and Keeley Karsten, respectively. The series will centre on Malcolm trying to maintain a peaceful life, avoiding his dysfunctional family, only for their paths to inevitably collide due to his parents’ 40th anniversary party.

“After shielding himself and his daughter from his family for over a decade, Malcolm is dragged back into their orbit when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party.” Reads Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair’s official logline.

Malcolm in the Middle originally aired for seven seasons and 151 episodes on Fox from 2000 to 2006, with its original creator Linwood Boomer also returning as writer and executive producer of the upcoming series. The four-episode series will be produced by 20th Television and directed by Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You).

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair will premiere on Hulu and Disney+ on 10 April 2026.
