MTG Secret Lair Street Fighter

Capcom’s Street Fighter Joins Magic: The Gathering Arena In New Secret Lair Set

The Secret Lair series from Magic: The Gathering (MTG) has tapped into the perennial desire of fans to see crossovers between their favourite franchises. The series has already turned assets from League of Legends, The Walking Dead, and more into gorgeous MTG cards. The latest crossover in the Secret Lair series is with Street Fighter.

This is a Secret Lair set released in celebration of the fighting game franchise’s 35th anniversary, and it features eight iconic characters from Street Fighter II in card form. While they belong to completely different genres, the set is like a match made in heaven, as with all eight cards laid out, it feels like looking at the character select screen in a fighting game.

The artworks on the cards show the characters in the middle of their signature moves:

  • Ryu unleashing a Hadouken
  • Blanka zapping an opponent with Electric Thunder
  • Zangief about to go into his Spinning Piledriver
  • Ken leaping into the air with his Shoryuken
  • Dhalsim stretching out his arms with his Double Zoom Punch
  • Guile shooting out Sonic Booms
  • E. Honda with his Hundred Hand Slap
  • Chun-Li with her speedy Spinning Bird Kick

The Hadouken itself is made into an Instant, a reskin of Lightning Bolt!

From now till 19 March 2022, the Secret Lair X Street Fighter set, available in both foil and non-foil versions, is up for pre-order on Shopee along with other Secret Lair sets. Fans of Street Fighter and MTG alike, this is a set you won’t want to miss out on. For those who want more MTG goodness, the latest set, Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty features an Oriental cyberpunk world with exciting mechanics to dive deep into.
