Luc Besson Will Direct ‘Dracula – A Love Tale’ Starring Christoph Waltz And Caleb Landry-Jones

Dracula has been a time-loved classic with plenty of adaptations to date, but lesser known are the shadowy count’s origins. Dogman director Luc Besson is set to direct a new spin on the classic figure in Dracula – A Love Tale, starring Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) and Caleb Landry-Jones (Dogman).

Dracula – A Love Tale is a loose spin inspired by the titular Count from Bram Stoker’s novel, but is otherwise a separate story of a doomed tragic romance set in the 19th century. Prince Vladimir grieves the death of his wife and forsakes his faith in the 15th century, and is turned into a vampire. Four centuries later in London, he discovers his wife’s doppelgänger and dooms himself by pursuing her.

Besson made a directorial comeback with Dogman, which starred Landry-Jones, and the film made 3.9 million at the box office. Landry-Jones will play Dracula, and Waltz has been cast in an unknown role.

Kinology is in talks with potential distributors at the European Film Market, so it’ll be a while before we hear more news on the film, but developments are underway. A release date has yet to be set.
