Liam Hemsworth Drops Out-Of-Place F-Bomb In ‘The Witcher’ Season 4 Trailer

Netflix has released the first trailer for Season Four of its fantasy series The Witcher, which sees Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia from Henry Cavill (Man of Steel), sparking fan debate over the new star’s portrayal of the well-established character.

The two-minute-long trailer showcases the first official look at Hemsworth’s Geralt in action, as he assembles a crew of adventurers, such as Jaskier (Joey Batey) and newcomer Regis (Laurence Fishburne), as they track down his former Witcher apprentice, Ciri (Freya Allan). The show will also see the return of series staples Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) and Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu).

Apart from featuring the expected action sequences that see Geralt dispatching all sorts of monsters like wraiths, ghouls, and ogres, the trailer also gives a better look at the season’s plot, alongside Hemsworth’s new portrayal of the character, and it’s the latter which has drawn criticism from fans.

Notably, in terms of Hemsworth’s performance, fans were quick to point out how he barely had any lines in the trailer, and one among them was a pretty out-of-place F-bomb, to which Geralt shouts, “let’s f**king move!”, as he charges into battle, which was not only cheesy, but also didn’t fit the character at all. This line was ridiculed by fans in the comments, with many stating that this line was “not what Geralt would ever say” and questioning what the show’s writers were thinking.

“The Witcher is in a state of flux. You are becoming something new,” a voice aptly states in the trailer, which does feel like a direct reference to the character’s new casting. Cavill, who portrayed the titular monster hunter for three seasons, left the series in October 2022 due to the producers’ insistence on deviating from its source material, such as placing side characters like Yennifer and Ciri in the spotlight instead of its actual main protagonist.

It remains to be seen if Hemsworth’s new portrayal of Geralt will help benefit the series or continue its declining interest when Season Four of The Witcher premieres on Netflix on 30 October 2025.
