LG’s 2024 OLED TV Line Will Be Brighter With Advanced AI Processing

There’s always something going for LG TVs. Last year, the company released its brightest OLED models yet, making them more suited for well-illuminated rooms. Going into the new year and ahead of CES 2024, artificial intelligence (AI) processing will be its new focus — as well as the driving force behind the latest product offerings.

For starters, the LG Signature OLED M4 and OLED G4 OLED are now powered by new α 11 (pronounced “alpha eleven”) AI processors, which tout a 70 percent boost in graphics performance and a 30 percent faster speed compared to its predecessor. The chip upscales objects and backgrounds to reduce blur, and will allegedly analyse and adjust colours to “best convey the mood and emotional elements intended by filmmakers.”

Users can also expect a more “three-dimensional” image, courtesy of its proprietary Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro technology that fine-tunes brightness and contrast as needed. Audio upgrades, meanwhile, include virtual surround sound and enhanced dialogue, achieved by separating vocals from soundtracks.

The resolution on the M4 and G4 remains the same as last year’s models, but their refresh rates are now higher. Instead of 120Hz, the TVs, along with all 2024 models in the LG C4 lineup, can clock up to 144Hz up to 83 inches. Here’s the sizing breakdown for each:

ModelAvailable sizes
LG Signature OLED M465″, 77″, 83″, 97″
LG G4 OLED55″, 65″, 77″, 83″, 97″
LG C4 OLED42″, 48″, 55″, 65″, 77″, 83″

Elsewhere, LG’s webOS operating system has gotten a refresh as well. Apart from 10 onboard profiles, these new sets can even listen to the user’s voice and apply it to the respective profile. A bonus for those looking to keep their living room clean and free of wire tangle — the M4 ships with the company’s proprietary Zero Connect Box, which streams video and audio wirelessly in 4K at a 120Hz refresh rate.

Finally, all of LG’s new OLED TVs offer support for both NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync, so gamers can look forward to an optimised experience. The panels will also feature the Game Optimiser selection screen, allowing for quick switching between display presets designed for various genres.

Pricing and availability have yet to be announced. With CES 2024 kicking off next week on 9/10 January (depending on timezone), however, there should be more information available then — and not just for the LG Signature OLED M4 and OLED G4. In addition to these latest TVs, the industry giant revealed two other big guns: the massive 97-inch M3 OLED display and 98-inch QNED model.
