LG’s UltraGear Are The First Gaming Monitors To Be VESA AdaptiveSync-Certified

LG has announced that two of its UltraGear gaming monitors, the 27GP950 and 27GP850, are the first gaming monitors to receive VESA AdaptiveSync Display certification.

Both monitors have 27-inch Nano IPS displays with high refresh rates and 1ms grey-to-grey response times.

VESA AdaptiveSync Display is a recently launched public open-standard benchmark by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) for front-of-screen performance of variable refresh rate displays. It has a set of over 50 criteria for screens to meet before receiving the logo certification.

This matters because as more monitors hit the marketing citing faster and faster refresh rates, there really isn’t a central body to certify that if these numbers are even legit and have been tested under a uniform set of parameters. Goodbye self-reporting, hello official certifying body.

A VESA AdaptiveSync Display certification means that the screen has met VESA’s performance benchmarks which include “significantly higher refresh rates and low latency”.

Ultimately, the programme hopes to make it easier for consumers to buy products that actually work well in practice and not just on paper. In theory, when you get a VESA AdaptiveSync-certified monitor, you should have a smooth, artefact-free gaming experience. So, if that’s a key criterion for you, these LG monitors may be worth a look.
