LG Electronics and Xbox have joined forces to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to LG Smart TVs. Starting later in 2025, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will gain direct access to the Xbox Cloud Gaming platform through the Xbox app on compatible LG Smart TVs, eliminating the need for a console.
This partnership reflects Microsoft’s ambition to transform any screen into an Xbox-playing device, a move that broadens gaming options for users worldwide. Through LG’s new Gaming Portal, players can seamlessly browse and play a wide range of PC and console games, including top-tier titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and upcoming releases such as Avowed. In addition, players can stream their owned Xbox games, such as NBA 2K25 and Hogwarts Legacy, directly to their LG TVs.
Chris Jo, Senior Vice President at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to announce the partnership with Xbox, which aims to enrich the gaming experience on LG Smart TVs with a broader selection of popular games. The Gaming Portal will provide users with a seamless, convenient and
exciting way to enhance the gaming experience on LG Smart TVs.”
Lori Wright, Corporate Vice President of Xbox, echoed Jo’s enthusiasm, highlighting how the partnership aligns with Xbox’s goal of expanding its cloud gaming services: “Our partnership with LG will help players easily discover and play games through the new Gaming Portal on LG Smart TVs. We’re fortunate to have a great partner in LG who will bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to more players, letting new and longtime Xbox’ers find their favourite games and play with friends across screens.”
LG’s Gaming Portal, powered by webOS, will serve as a user-friendly hub for cloud gaming apps, curated game lists, and personalized recommendations. From the Home Screen, users can access top-rated games, recently played titles, and editor’s picks, ensuring an intuitive and comprehensive gaming experience.
This collaboration builds on Xbox’s previous partnerships, such as its rollout of cloud gaming on select Samsung TVs, further expanding its presence in the smart TV market. Specific details, including supported LG TV models and an exact release date, remain under wraps.
