LEGO Luigi Joins Super Mario On An Interactive Starter Course Adventure On 1 August

Super Mario got his very own line of LEGO sets last year that included the likes of many familiar characters except for one – his green-clad brother. Luigi was noticeably missing from all of his adventures, but that’s set to change soon with LEGO‘s rollout of its 71387 Adventures with Luigi Starter Course, which will drop worldwide on 1 August 2021.

In the same vein of the LEGO Super Mario product line, the set features interactive elements that allow fans to expand, rebuild, customise, and create their own challenges in the brick world. It will ship with a Luigi figure, which takes after the character’s signature look and traits, including his charming personality and unique voice.

Built with the same technology as his brother, LEGO Luigi also boasts a colour sensor, a LCD screen to capture different reactions, and a speaker that plays iconic music and sound effects from the Super Mario video game series. As part of the family, it will offer compatibility with the Mario Starter Course, all Expansion Sets, collectible Character Packs, and Power-Up Packs as well, so fans can feel free to mix and match for the best interactive experience.

Combining the Super Mario and Luigi kits, as such, is the best way to enjoy the creative potential. Moving LEGO Luigi from the Start Pipe to the Goal Pole, for instance, sees players earning digital coins in real-life level-play by completing a spinning seesaw
challenge, interacting with the new Pink Yoshi and defeating Boom Boom and a Bone Goomba. Meanwhile, the brown bricks in the 71387 Adventures with Luigi Starter Course triggers a new sound from Luigi, with the ‘?’ Block holding extra rewards in store.

“LEGO play lets children unleash their imaginations, and we’re so excited Luigi has arrived to help them create even more LEGO Super Mario adventures,” said Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer of the LEGO Group. “Everybody loves Luigi! With his unique personality, green cap and distinctive moustache, he has been highly requested by fans all over the world, and we are thrilled to welcome him to this interactive playset that is really changing the way people engage with Super Mario and LEGO play.”

Building instructions and creative tips for the 280-piece set can be accessed through the free LEGO Super Mario app, which also comes with a score-tracking system and an idea-sharing platform for younger builders. Pre-order for the LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Luigi Starter Course (S$84.90) is now available online at LEGO Certified Stores, Toys ‘R’ Us, and the official LEGO Store on Lazada, Shopee, and Amazon.
