Legendary’s ‘Street Fighter’ Live-Action Movie Eyes Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Roman Reigns & Noah Centineo

Legendary’s live-action Street Fighter adaptation, based on Capcom’s hit fighting game franchise, has begun the search for its roster of fighters, with Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Andrew Koji (Bullet Train), Roman Reigns (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) and Noah Centineo (Warfare) in talks to star in the movie.

This news comes via Deadline, although no further information on its plot or its writers and producers has been revealed as of yet. The film will be directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), who took over the reins from Danny and Michael Philippou (Talk To Me) in February this year. The adaptation will be co-developed and co-produced alongside Capcom, the developer and publisher of the video game franchise, which traces its roots to 1987.

Although it has not been confirmed which characters the actors would portray, a X\Twitter post by industry insider Jeff Sneider alludes that Koji will play Ryu, the main protagonist of the games, while Centineo will play Ken Masters, Ryu’s rival and the man who trained him since he was young. WWE pro wrestler Reigns was also rumoured to take on the role of Akuma, the iconic villain in the series, who first made his debut as a secret boss and playable character in 1994’s Super Street Fighter II Turbo. According to ComicBookMovie’s sources, Momoa will take on the role of Blanka, a mutated human with green skin and the ability to generate electricity.

Making its debut with the 1987 arcade game Street Fighter, the franchise has since seen numerous spin-offs, crossovers, and six more mainline titles, with its latest entry being 2023’s Street Fighter 6. Although the adaptation’s plot has not been revealed, it would most likely follow the later titles, considering the rumoured appearance of Akuma and Blanka.

The Street Fighter film was originally slated to be released on 20 March 2026, but has since been pulled from Sony’s 2026 release slate, with no further news on its updated release window.
