Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Gameplay Trailer

Kraven The Hunter Prompts Peter Parker And Miles Morales Team-Up For ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’

We already know that Insomniac GamesMarvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be coming later this Fall, but it is always great to see snippets of a blockbuster game in action. As part of the latest PlayStation Showcase, the team delivered the first-ever gameplay trailer of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and there is plenty of things to talk about.

Kraven the Hunter

Fans who studied the announcement trailer for the game back in 2021 would have discovered Kraven the Hunter lurking somewhere, and this time, we finally see the villain in full as part of the showcase. Seeking an equal on his Great Hunt, this means that no one is safe, not Peter Parker, not Miles Morales, and of course, any of the other villains that call New York home.

The hunter will pack his own enemy faction along for the ride, and players will have to contend with Kraven’s Hunters throughout the game. As if Kraven was not enough, there is also the imminent Symbiote threat out there on the horizon to think about.

Symbiote Suit in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay trailer also gave us the first look at Peter’s new suit, and it’s the highly coveted, iconic, and beloved Black Suit. While it may look sleek, it is not just serving aesthetics. The new suit gives our hero many new tricks, and also allows Spider-Man to be more aggressive during combat.

“New combat abilities can neutralize our new headstrong opponents with a little finesse. Strike back with aggressive parries to gain the upper hand, or cast a web to shunt enemies between a hard place and a harder place. You can also activate a classic dodge to get out of danger – but don’t get too comfortable; some attacks can’t simply be dodged and will require a parry to properly evade them,” said Aaron Espinoza, Senior Community Manager about the suit in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Miles Morales

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is not just about Peter either, as the gameplay trailer also gave us a taste of what’s in store for Miles Morales. Players can choose to switch between both Spider-Men, and traversal through the city is much swifter thanks to new mechanics like the Web Wings or wind tunnels.

And when the time comes for fisticuffs, there is always the option of stealth or going in all gung-ho. The choice is the players, with different tools to enhance either playstyle in different ways in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

“Between Peter’s new Symbiote abilities and Miles’ newfound blue bioelectric powers, each Spider-Man has their own unique set of skills that can be upgraded via all-new individual skills tree. Our heroes share technology and train together, too, so we also included a shared Skill Tree that offers parallel upgrades for both,” added Espinoza.

Everything certainly looks great, with details particularly striking both in motion and during pivotal moments. For now, this sneak peek at gameplay from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is all we have, with a release date still not set just yet. Fall 2023 cannot come fast enough.
