Kids Logic has done it again, to make long-time Robotech/Macross fans go gaga over their latest 1/12th scale cockpit statue of everyone’s favourite VF-1J Valkyrie. This is a scaled down version from their earlier 1/6th scale cockpit diorama digital sound system which has been long sold out since. Let’s just say this makes for a far more affordable collectible, without some of the extra bells and whistles.
The cockpit statue is made of polystone, resin and ABS plastic, and measures in at 46 cm (L) x 16cm (H) x 17cm (W). It also has 30 LED light-up features powered by a USB cable. This gets a big “YES” from us because this means one can plug it into a powebank or a smartplug and never worry about bast battery leakages. With detailed paintwork and weathering effects, it is quite a sight to behold.
Good news for the Macross purists. If you look closely at the close-up shot of the display stand, it only carries the Macross logo, with no mention of Robotech at all.
The cockpit was based on the concept design from the Macross anime in the ’80s, re-created in 1/12th scale. With the production experience of the 1/6th big scale VF-1 cockpit in recent years, Kidslogic continue to focus on every detail of the cockpit such as the buttons, control panels, texture of the pilot seat, and light-up effect of the engines.
For the pre-order phase, this exquisite piece is going for US$380 (regular price at US$430), along with a trio of pre-order bonuses: three 1/285 scale miniatures of the VF-1J in Battloid, Fighter and Guardian (Gerwalk) mode.
Pre-orders will start on 4th March 2020 and it is estimated to ship on Q4 2020, but with the current situation with COVID-19, do expect that date to shift.
