Jurassic Park And Fallout Series Join Magic: The Gathering Expansions

Guess the folks at Wizards of the Coast were so preoccupied with whether or not they could merge Jurassic Park into Magic: The Gathering, they didn’t stop to think if they should.

Regardless, the inclusion of Jurassic Park and Fallout into the mix is going to spark plenty of conversation (or controversy).

Unlike the recent Lord of the Rings expansion, Jurassic Park-themed cards will be part of Lost Caverns of Ixalan where dinosaurs roam the land. Players will see a slew of new artwork that depicts famous characters and scenes from the six Jurassic Park/World movies. Considering that Magic: The Gathering delves into the realm of fantasy, the visual approach would be closer the what we’ve seen with Stranger Things and Walking Dead releases.

At the same time, the Godzilla variants seen with the Ikoria expansion were well received so the Jurassic Park cards could hold some promise.

On the other hand, we’ll also see the first-ever Fallout-themed commander decks. This treatment would be more along the lines of the Warhammer 40K release which was well-reviewed with its flavour and thoughtfully designed unique cards. We’re looking forward to seeing if Fallout gets there will be the same level of dedication and love in March 2024.

To top it all off, the Final Fantasy set will see a standalone tentpole booster release in 2025 bringing it in line with Lord of the Rings. If the likes of Gandalf and Saruman are able to bring in new audiences to Magic: The Gathering, Wizards is counting on the likes of Tifa and Terra to do the same as well. The release will encompass all the Final Fantasy games up to the current Final Fantasy XVI.

Here’s a peek at the roadmap ahead for Magic: The Gathering:
