Huawei P40 Pro’s Rumoured Five-Camera Setup May Subject Galaxy S20 Ultra To Tough Competition

Huawei has certainly established a reliable reputation for themselves, following impressive showings from their flagship P and Mate series. As the date to their annual launch announcement in Paris draws near, a leak about the forthcoming P40 family has emerged, revealing some details that may very well turn up the heat on Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra – camera-wise, at least.

According to a now-deleted post by Twitter user @RODENT950, the three devices (P40 Lite, P40, and P40 Pro) will boast some pretty powerful camera capabilities. The former two, for instance, are supposedly outfitted with three and four cameras respectively, while the more premium P40 Pro is rumoured to have a five-camera setup alongside these notable features:

  • 1x 52MP Sony IMX700 1/1.2-inch RYYB camera sensor
  • 1x 40MP ultra-wide camera attached with a Sony IMX650 RGGB 1/1.5-inch sensor
  • 1x 3X telephoto
  • 1x ultra-long 10X periscope camera
  • Depth-sensing ToF (Time-of-flight) sensor
  • 1x colour temperature sensor
  • LED flashlight
  • 1x mic

In comparison, the P40 Lite and P40 will have humbler specs, including the absence of the ultra-long 10X zoom. A four-sided curved display, Huawei’s proprietary Kirin chipset, and 5G compatibility, meanwhile, are set to be features that can be found across the three models. As for colour variations, Black, Blush Gold, Silver Frost, Deep Sea Blue, and Ice White are expected to be available at launch.

The best part of it all is perhaps the price, which is rumoured to be similar to that of the Galaxy S20 Ultra devices. It goes without saying, but the leaked details should be taken lightly until the official reveal event drops on 26 March 2020.
