Horror-adventure Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water Returns To Haunt Consoles And PC On 28 October

Koei Tecmo has officially announced that their chilling horror-adventure game Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water will return this 28 October. While we might be more familiar with the title Fatal Frame, the new game will follow the European release title, Project Zero.

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water is essentially an enhanced version of the original 2014 Wii U release of the same name. This time, the game will be launched across multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows PC.

The game revolves around three characters, Yuri Kozukata, Ren Hojo, and Miu Hinasaki as they venture into the haunted mountains of Mt. Hikami to discover its horror, secrets and mysteries. Equipped with a special camera, Camera Obscura, players deal damage to spirits when they capture an image of them, with camera unlocks and upgrades improving its abilities and powers.

Besides visual improvements and new platforms, the enhanced version will feature a Photo Mode where players can position spirits and themselves to create the ultimate horror shot. Additionally, new costumes and accessories have been added to the game for every character.

In celebration of their 20th Anniversary, with the original game launched back in 2001, Koei Tecmo will be releasing a special Digital Deluxe Edition for fans of the game. It’ll include a copy of the game, a digital artbook, and six costumes inspired from previous characters in the series.

Fans who pre-order or purchase the game within the first two weeks of the launch will also receive a special Ryza costume inspired by the game Atelier Ryza.

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water releases on 28 October on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam.
