‘Happy Death Day’ Director Christopher Landon To Helm ‘Scream 7’

Scream 7 has found a new director! Christopher Landon, best known for directing Happy Death Day will be helming the new Scream sequel.

Landon replaces Matt Bettilnelli-Olpin and Tyler Gilett, otherwise known as Radio Silence, as director. Radio Silence previously helmed the 2022 instalment that rebooted the franchise and followed it up with a Scream VI sequel earlier this year. It is reported that the filmmaking duo are stepping back from the Scream franchise to focus on an original monster movie for Universal Studios.

Nonetheless, the franchise is still in good hands with Landon in charge. Landon holds writing credits for the Paranormal Activity movies and directed both Happy Death Day and the sequel Happy Death Day 2 U. He also rebooted the iconic kids’ film Freaky Friday with Freaky, and recently directed We Have A Ghost for Netflix. The director also enjoys infusing horror and comedy so he’s suited for a self-aware series like Scream.

Scream was first created in 1966 by the legendary Wes Craven. The franchise’s core cast mainly consisted of Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette. The series has also featured other actors such as Timothy Olyphant, Liev Schreiber, Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere amongst many others.
