Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut Uncovers Sakai Clan’s Dark Past On Iki Island

Earlier this month, PlayStation and Sucker Punch Studios unveiled Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, much to the delight for those looking forward to more with Jin Sakai. A year after Ghost of Tsushima took the world by storm, we will be heading back to the fight against the Mongols, albeit with additional content like Iki Island.

While the additional PS5 bells and whistles, along with the upgrade path for the game made for useful info, perhaps most importantly is the story content that lies ahead. In a new blog post and trailer, the developers were on hand to shed more light on the mysterious Iki Island in Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut.

Things are certainly a little more fantastical, with the arrival of a new Mongol tribe. Led by the shaman Ankhsar Khatun, as known as the Eagle, it represents a brand new kind of danger for Jin Sakai.

A New Kind Of Danger

With Iki Island as their base of operations, Jin will have to do his best to battle this new threat. The island itself is not new for our hero, and he will be forced to face old fears and process certain trauma in order to overcome it all. It appears that the Sakai clan is hiding some dark secrets.

In contrast to the main island, in Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, Iki Island is a wild, lawless land. Expect to see plenty of raiders and criminals roaming about, and the samurai are not exactly welcomed. Jin will have to find a way to work with a variety of unsavoury locals in order to win.

There will be new legends to explore, new techniques to master, and you will need all your samurai and stealth know-how to defeat the Mongols.

The Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be available this coming 20 August.
