Ghibli Park Opens Biggest Valley Of Witches Area In March

The witches (and wizard) will make their grand entrance in Ghibli Park’s Valley Of Witches, marking the Studio Ghibli-themed park’s full opening. The park’s new themed zones and rides bring iconic movies to life, including Howl’s Moving Castle and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Kyodo News reported an in-depth tour of the park, with the Guchokipanya Bakery where the titular character of Kiki’s Delivery Service works at being fully operational. That’s right, the bakery will sell bread and themed pastries from the film.

Peek inside the bakery’s attic and discover a few surprises, or wander into the Okino house where Kiki grew up in, with screen-accurate replicas of Kiki’s old room and her mother’s garden.

Of course, we can’t mention the Valley of Witches (and wizard) without Howl’s Moving Castle. While Howl’s castle can’t move in this case, visitors can still tour the interior and visit the living room and furnace as well as Howl’s bedroom. There’s also a replica of Sophie’s hat shop, which has plenty of interesting props.

Check out the House of Witches from Earwig and the Witch, filled with witchy shenanigans, like Bella Yaga’s workshop.

There’s also rides for the kids, and a meticulously-crafted carousel with familiar Ghibli characters eagle-eyed fans can spot. Ride on flying vehicles from the films, and there’s even a play area house for younger fans.

We’re excited to see how Ghibli Park looks like when it’s fully completed, and if you’re planning a trip soon, the Valley Of Witches area will be open to the public on 16 March 2024.
