It’s been three years since Gamescom Asia was brought to life in Singapore, and the gaming hype looks set to spill over into 2024. Held from 17 to 20 October at Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre, the annual affair has announced its first round of stage guests and booths featuring industry heavyweights, including Japanese giant Capcom, industry expert Shawn Layden, and award-winning voice actor Andrew Wincott.
The event includes a business and public exhibition, an industry conference, and several programmes for the masses, with Capcom returning to lead the B2C Entertainment Zone. Here, visitors can expect some hands-on time with upcoming titles (both triple-A and indie), watch live performances, bask in featured areas like cosplay, board games, and retro games, and even meet their favourite personalities. For esports enthusiasts, the Capcom Pro Tour 2024 Super Premier Singapore promises to be a thrill with competitive Street Fighter 6.
Joining Capcom in the space is GCL’s publishing unit 4Divinity, gracing the show floor with its 2024 releases. These include JDM: Japanese Drift Master, which lets players explore and drift around Japan’s countryside, open-world construction and survival hybrid Terratech Worlds, action-RPG with base building and tower defence mechanics First Dwarf, and horror first-person shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
The expanded Indie Wavemakers area will also spotlight dozen of indie developers, alongside stamp rallies and attractive prizes to be won by the public. Stirring excitement over at the Main Stage is Wincott, best known as the voice of Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3, and J-pop singer-songwriter SHIHORI, who was recently featured on Mobile Legends: Bang Bang! ALLSTAR2024.
While Gamescom Asia 2024 spans four days, the Entertainment Zone is only open to the public from 18 to 20 October. Over 80 industry experts will grace the business conference area on 17 and 18 October, with Layden, former CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America, setting the tone with a fireside chat on insights and predictions about the games industry.
Other confirmed speakers include Amir Ghareaghadje (VP of Brand Marketing, CD Projekt Red), Jaeho Hwang (Game Director, MINTROCKET – NEXON), Louis Ang (Animation Lead, Riot Games Singapore), and Justin Scarpone (EVP & Global Head of Transmedia, SEGA Japan). More announcements are expected in due time.
Registration is currently open for business and industry visitors. As for the general public, Entertainment Area tickets have already gone on sale, with prices starting at S$19 for a single-day online purchase.
