Singapore might already be a global hub for finance, trade, logistics, and technology, but the Lion City is steadily making waves into the pop culture scene, determined to be the entertainment hub for numerous large-scale fan events.

Over the years, the likes of Anime Festival Asia (AFA), Singapore Comic Con (SGCC), EOY Music, Comics & Arts Festival, and GamesCom Asia (before it moved to Thailand in 2025), have called Singapore home, even luring the likes of Disney Cruise to call Singapore its first home port in Asia.
And in 2027, there are already no less than five global events that will be taking place in Singapore, from the House of Mouse’s Disney’s D23 making its Asia debut, to Japan’s iconic electric mouse, Pikachu, debuting the Pokémon World Championships 2027 in the country.
Even with previous major events under its belt, Singapore is still growing as the go-to hotspot for some of the biggest international entertainment events in the world. From massive card game tournaments to highly anticipated yearly fan extravaganzas making their debut on our Little Red Dot, these events make it much more accessible for fans across Southeast Asia, turning them from a late-night stream into a date to mark on their calendars that’s just a short-haul flight away.
Here are the five major geeky events heading to our shores in 2027, in order of event dates:
EVO Singapore 2027
Date: 15 – 17 January
Location: Marina Bay Sands

Fighting game fans in Singapore now have a date to mark in their calendars, and this time, they won’t even need to hop on a flight, as EVO (The Evolution Championship Series), the world’s longest-running and most prestigious fighting game tournament, will be heading to our shores in January 2027.
As part of EVO’s global expansion, Singapore will be its first Southeast Asian host city, with the event also rolling out regional iterations across Saudi Arabia, China, Morocco, Brazil and Mexico in 2027. Although the full game line-up has not been announced yet, EVO Singapore will be headlined by the Tekken World Tour (TWT) 2026 Global Finals, which runs concurrently from 14 to 17 January. This also marks the first time the TWT is being held at an official EVO venue, making it an even more special occasion for fighting game fans.
While ticket sales and player registration details for EVO Singapore 2027 have not been released, nor has the tournament’s game line-up, fans can surely expect the appearance of the genre’s biggest players such as Street Fighter 6, Fatal Fury: The City of the Wolves, and Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising.
BLAST Premier Open Singapore 2027
Date: 15 – 28 March
Location: TBA

The first BLAST Premier Open of 2027, the Counter-Strike professional esports league, is returning to Singapore after three years, bringing world-class esports and entertainment experiences back to the region.
As the league’s first arena Counter-Strike event of 2027, the event is set to feature 16 of the best teams in the world competing for a prize pool of US$1.25 million, promising an electrifying two weeks of competition and celebrations for fans across the globe. The entire tournament will also take place exclusively in Singapore, marking a change from previous years, which saw its opening stages held in Copenhagen.
BLAST Premier Open 2027 also marks the third major venture into the region, following the sold-out BLAST Premier World Final 2024, which was the event’s debut in Southeast Asia, and the Dota-centred BLAST Slam IV in 2025, further cementing our Little Red Dot’s ability to host premium esports events at a massive scale.
D23 Asia: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event
Date: 25 – 27 June
Location: Marina Bay Sands

The ultimate fan event for all things Disney is making its return once again in 2027, and this time, it will make its premiere in Singapore for the first time, marking a milestone in the studio’s expansion across the Asia Pacific region.
Often hailed as “Disney’s version of Comic-Con”, this yearly event features everything a Disney fan can ask for, including the latest major announcements surrounding upcoming TV shows or theme parks, exclusive first-look trailers, celebrity appearances, fan panels, and of course, no shortage of merchandise to snag up. First launched in Hollywood in 2009, D23 has evolved into a global celebration, with events held in locations like Japan in 2018, Brazil in 2024, as well as Anaheim in 2026. The first-ever Singapore edition is set to build on the legacy of past iterations while providing a uniquely Asian experience, all while offering the same scale fans have come to expect.
D23 Asia: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will take place at Marina Bay Sands Singapore and feature three days of Disney storytelling, creativity and innovation spanning immersive experiences, exclusive showcases and announcements, with fans able to pre-purchase tickets starting from November 2026.
Pokémon World Championships 2027
Date: 13 – 15 August
Location: Singapore EXPO, Singapore Indoor Stadium

As one of the biggest Pokémon events of the year, the Pokémon World Championships is the annual gathering of both competitive players and franchise fans as they celebrate a weekend-long event filled with card battles and fan events. With the recent conclusion of its 2026 iteration, the event closed off with the reveal that the Pokémon World Championship 2027 will be making its debut in Singapore.
Apart from being the biggest Pokémon tournament in the world, one that brings together only the most elite competitors across its TCG and gaming scene for the ultimate test of skill, the event is also host to some of the most exciting news and announcements surrounding the franchise. This year’s event, for example, teased a new TKTK set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game featuring Mega Evolutions from the 2025 game Pokémon Legends: Z-A, alongside the reveal of Pokémon Wild Card, the franchise’s first animated movie in seven years, so the Pokémon World Championships 2027 is bound to be no different.
The Pokémon World Championship 2027 will take place over the weekend of 13 to 15 August 2027 at Singapore EXPO, with the final day of the ultimate grand finals, Championship Sunday, taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2027
Date: TBA
Location: TBA

Just a few days after the announcement of the Pokémon World Championships heading to Singapore, Konami also dropped a similar bombshell with the reveal that its Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2027, a card game based on the popular entertainment franchise, is bound for our shores too, cementing our island as the new hub for all things TCG.
Announced during the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2026 in Tokyo, not much was revealed other than a key visual showcasing its logo against the backdrop of Marina Bay Sands and the ArtScience Museum, but this reveal still marks a huge milestone for the tournament. Since its first iteration in 2003, the event has only been held in three locations – Japan, the United States, or Europe, making Singapore its first host country in Asia outside of Japan, as well as the first location in Southeast Asia, which is a pretty smart move considering its huge fanbase across the region in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
For now, fans will just have to wait for more information to arrive as the tournament’s regional qualifiers take place over the course of 2027, but one thing’s for sure – the TCG scene in Singapore is only going to get bigger and better.
