In honour of Bruce Lee’s 80th birthday today, G-Shock has unveiled a new limited-edition themed after the famed martial artist and actor.
Only 300 of the MRG-G20000BL-9A timepieces will be made, all with a custom dial and bright yellow strap reminiscent of Bruce Lee’s iconic yellow tracksuit the actor wore for his final film, Game of Death.
The indices, second hand, and MR-G logo on the watch are all in yellow and red, which are the colours of the emblem of Jeet Kune Do, the martial arts technique created by Lee himself.
On the back of the watch is a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coated titanium bezel engraved with Chinese characters that translates to “Using no way as a way, having no limitation as limitation”, a philosophy found in Jeet Kune Do.
The martial artist died at the young age of 32 years old in 1973 due to cerebral edema, or the swelling of the brain due to excessive fluids.
The MRG-G20000BL-9A G-Shock x Bruce Lee model will be retailing for US$4,000 at select jewelers and G-Shock’s SoHo store.
