With the Coronavirus not leaving any time soon, the fate of movies are certainly full of uncertainty. That said, Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy may just fall victim to yet another delay.
Free Guy stars Reynolds and tells the story of a bank teller called Guy and his realisation that he is nothing more but a background character in an open-world game called Free City.
Slated to release 3 July 2020, the movie was later pushed to 11 December 2020. In a recent video posted on Reynolds’ YouTube account, it not only teased a new trailer coming up but also the possibility of a new release date.
Cast members joked about the movie delaying until Christmas, Valentines’ Day, Labour Day, Halloween next year and even Pine Cone Appreciation Day. It seems that despite movie theatres reopening, the number of audience and attendees are still at a low.
The disappointing turnout to movies is one of the reasons why other awaited movies like No Time To Die and the whole of Marvel Cinematic Universe films including Black Widow will only hit the screens in 2021. With no news yet to come and this comedic sketch from the cast of Free Guy, the upcoming trailer might provide the answer to our question.
Free Guy stars Ryan Reynolds, Taika Waititi, Jodie Comer, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Lil Rel Howery and Joe Keery.
