“We’re the world’s greatest superheroes. And I can do whatever the f**k I want.”
That line sums up the first uncensored trailer for Amazon Prime‘s The Boys. Graphic, punchy and violent, and all those are good things.
The Boys is a live-action adaptation of the Eisner Award-winning 2008 comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The story follows the titular secret CIA group, The Boys, who are on a mission to police the corrupt and power-drunk world’s greatest superheroes, called The Seven, who have been reveling in their reckless and corrupt behaviour after attaining celebrity status in the public eye.
And what do The Boys have in their arsenal? Not superpowers. But they do have tons of military-grade weapons. But most importantly, balls.
The show is developed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the guys who produced Preacher (another live-adaptation of another award-winning Garth Ennis comic), as well as Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.
The Boys premieres on Amazon Prime on July 26.
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
