HBO has officially announced the premiere month for its highly anticipated prequel series, Dune: Prophecy. The series, set to debut in November, dives into the origin story of the Bene Gesserit, taking fans back 10,000 years before the events of Denis Villeneuve‘s recent Dune films.
Developed initially for HBO’s streaming service Max, Dune: Prophecy will now premiere under the HBO umbrella, airing on the cable network and streaming on Max. This shift is part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s broader rebranding strategy.
Accompanying the premiere month announcement, HBO released a second teaser for Dune: Prophecy. This new teaser provides fans with a glimpse of fresh footage and more dialogue, adding depth to the first clip that was released in May.
Dune: Prophecy is based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It follows the story of two Harkonnen sisters, Valya and Tula, portrayed by Emily Watson and Olivia Williams. The sisters face formidable challenges as they work to establish the Bene Gesserit, a powerful sect that plays a crucial role in the Dune universe.
Dune: Prophecy promises to be a monumental addition to the Dune franchise, exploring the deep lore and complex characters that have captivated audiences. It is expected to release in fall.
