D23 Expo 2019: Disney Reveals New Marvel’s Avengers Campus

With news of Spider-Man leaving the MCU earlier this week, it seems the fans need a something huge to cheer themselves up. Now, it seems like there is just the news to do so.

Disney has just revealed the map of their new Marvel-themed land, officially titled Avengers Campus. It is a dedicated Marvel-inspired land located within Disney California Adventure Park at the Disney Resort.

Announced during the D23 Expo, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Bob Chapek said, “We’re building an immersive superhero-themed land at Disney California Adventure to enable our guests to join the Avengers to save the world.”

As Chapek stated, Avengers Campus will centre around the theme of recruiting visitors to fight alongside Earth’s mightiest heroes. As with most modern theme park lands, there will be a complete narrative interwoven into the space.

Here’s the mission statement of the Avengers Campus,

Our world needs more heroes; the Global Avengers Initiative is creating a new place to bring them together.

Here, Earth’s mightiest protectors are assembling from across time and space to forge a Centralized Assembly Mobilized to Prepare, Unite, and Safeguard-a C.A.M.P.U.S. dedicated to empowering the next generation of heroes. By building a site where we can share out technology, skills, and knowledge with our Avengers Campus Recruits, we hope to inspire a new community of people willing to defend the world, no and for the future.

If you have hopes for a brighter tomorrow, ideas for a better today, and the courage to take action, you are invited to join us at the Avengers Campus. Here, you can train with the strongest, build with the brightest, and unite as one team to help the world.

Avengers Assemble!

Though not much is known about the rides that will encompass the Avengers Campus, we do know that a Spider-Man ride will be occupying the former It’s Tough to be a Bug theatre building. In there, visitors will be able to shoot webs at big-screen targets.

According to reports by WDW News, the new Avengers Campus will be opening in two phases, with the first phase expected to open in 2020.

Disney and Marvel fans might already know this but the Avengers Campus will not be the first time Disney has built a Marvel theme park experience. Before the Avengers Campus came to be, there was the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle ride as well as the Iron Man Experience in Hong Kong Disneyland.
