This November will see two next-gen consoles duke it out as the PlayStation 5 go up against the Xbox Series X/S. However, as great as the machines are, they are nothing without games. One of the blockbusters coming out in the same month is CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, and we now know for sure it will hit its 19 November release date, as the game has officially gone gold.
As shared on Twitter, going gold means the release of the game is now set in stone. Production of physical copies of Cyberpunk 2077 can now begin.
Of course, that does not mean the development is done. On the contrary, we know that the studio is now hard at work ironing out all the flaws of the game. The hard work is to the extent that the studio has gone back on their initial word of no crunch, instating mandatory crunch for the developers.
The backlash was inevitable. Studio head Adam Badowski responded to the community, stating that it was “one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make,” but the team would be “well compensated for every extra hour they put in.”
We will find out if it is all worth it on 19 November.
