Cult Anime ‘Dorohedoro’ Celebrates Season 2 Announcement With New Key Art

The wait is over. After four years of radio silence, fans of dark fantasy action anime Dorohedoro are finally treated to some good news. The official website for the cult show has announced that a second season is in production, with a new piece of key art celebrating its impending release.

The visual features protagonists Caiman and Nikaido walking through the front door of the Hungry Bug restaurant, but doesn’t reveal much else. Other details, including the cast, episode count, and a release date, are also unknown.

However, it appears Attack on Titan Final Season and Jujutsu Kaisen studio MAPPA won’t be returning to the project, as the animation powerhouse is no longer listed in the bio of the official Dorohedoro account on X / Twitter. Series creator Q Hayashida will play a “big role” in the continuation of the anime, which certainly sets things off on the right foot.

Dorohedoro follows the story of an amnesiac mercenary named Caiman who, after being transformed into a reptilian-headed creature by a sorcerer, wakes up in the dystopian megacity known as the Hole. Together with Nikaido, the owner of a local restaurant, he embarks on a personal quest to recover his memories, kill the sorcerer responsible for his plight, and cure himself — all while surviving in a strange and violent world.

Dorohedoro Season 2

The first season of the anime ran from January to March 2020. It comprised 12 episodes, and was released outside of Japan on 28 May in the same year. No release date has been set for Dorohedoro Season 2.
