It’s been six years since Dorohedoro brought its quirky world to the small screen, and the wait for fans will soon be over. A new key visual for the anime’s second season has confirmed a premiere date of 1 April 2026, coming one year after its initial launch window.
Alongside a tagline that reads, “Jump! Into the swamp of chaos,” it also lists the updated staff working on the project, which comprises mostly returning names from the first season, including series composer Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan Final Season), character designer Tomohiro Kishi (Attack on Titan Final Season), and director Yuichiro Hayashi (Attack on Titan Final Season) at studio MAPPA. Miho Sugiura (Jujutsu Kaisen 0) now serves as art director, while Itsuku Onishi (Vinland Saga) has been promoted to colour key artist.
Other details, such as an official synopsis and new cast, were not announced, but it’s safe to assume that Wataru Takagi, Reina Kondo, Kenyu Horiuchi, Yoshimasa Hosoya, and Yu Kobayashi will reprise their roles as Caiman, Nikaido, En, Shin, and Noi, respectively. According to TOHO Animation’s official English X/Twitter account, Season 1 “will be available on even more platforms on 8 March”, described by Viz Media as follows:
“In a city so dismal it’s known only as ‘the Hole,’ a clan of Sorcerers has been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious ‘experiments’ in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they’re hunting and killing the Sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they’ll kill the right one. But when En, the head Sorcerer, gets word of a lizard-man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of “cleaners” into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds.“
Based on Q Hayashida’s manga of the same name, Dorohedoro ran from 2010 to 2019 and spanned 23 volumes. The first season aired in 2020, with the sequel set to debut on 1 April this year.
