Chris Hemsworth Wants To Join The Star Wars Franchise

Australian actor Chris Hemsworth have long made a name for himself as the God of Thunder Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and now with the mantle of Thor being passed to Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster for the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder,  it seems Hemsworth is more than interested in exploring other movie franchises, more specifically Star Wars

According to Comicbook.com, Hemsworth was asked if he would like to be part of the Star Wars franchise during his panel at ACE Comic Con Midwest, be it for a television series on Disney+ or a movie. To which Hemsworth replied, “Oh yeah, I’d love to.”

“I’m not sure there’s many people that’d say they wouldn’t want to be a part of that world, you know and especially having it be something I’ve grown up with like all of us here, probably, it’d be like a fan experience as opposed to being an actor and that’s the fun thing at this point of cinema and my career.”

Hemsworth is the second Marvel Chris who have expressed their interest in journeying to a galaxy far, far away. On Twitter, Captain America Chris Evans has also expressed his interest in joining the Star Wars franchise. This is interesting considering that it has also been announced that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will be working with Lucasfilm to develop a Star Wars movie. Of course, the MCU connection is no guarantee that Evans or Hemsworth will be able to show up in a Star Wars film but it will be fun to see the pair appear in the Star Wars universe.

Aside from the MCU, Hemsworth is no stranger to other big franchises, having starred in Ghostbusters, Star Trek, and most recently 2019’s Men in Black: International alongside fellow MCU star Tessa Thompson.

That said, Hemsworth still has quite a number of years left in the MCU, with him playing Thor himself in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on November 5, 2021.
