Capcom Celebrates ‘Resident Evil 4’ Remake Launch With Adorably Gruesome Anime Shorts

[Update: Episode 2 is now out! You can view it below:]

(original story as follows)

With just a few days before everyone gets to enjoy some Spanish villagers being all up in your face, Capcom has decided to celebrate the coming of the Resident Evil 4 remake with the best companion, anime shorts. And it’s not just any anime short, but ones whose adorable nature belie the horrors within.

Produced by the Japanese animation studio Nippon Animation, the first episode sees Leon S. Kennedy arriving in a small town populated by folks who want nothing more than his life. Unlike in the Resident Evil 4 remake, poor old Leon ends up getting a nice axe in the head. Everything gruesome and cute all in just under a minute, brilliant!

Of course, if you have been following the franchise and Capcom for a while, you would know that this isn’t something new from the Japanese company. Before the Resident Evil 4 remake and the anime shorts, there were also scary puppet shows put on to push Resident Evil Village and its brand of survival horror.

The promotional activities aren’t the only things Capcom is keeping consistent, with the Resident Evil 4 remake garnering plenty of love from critics as well, similar to the various modern remakes the Japanese gaming giant has been putting out. For everyone else, we will have to wait and see when the game launches on 24 March.

Until then, why not join cartoon Leon on more of his misadventures in the Resident Evil 4 remake anime shorts
