Following a teaser shown during the Grammys in February, Blumhouse and Universal Pictures have dropped a new trailer for their horror sequel M3GAN 2.0, showcasing more of the film’s wild plot, which pits an upgraded M3GAN against an even deadlier killer robot – Amelia.
In a sequel that exudes more action vibes than its slasher/horror predecessor, the iconic killer doll makes a return after being destroyed by Gemma (Allison Williams), with the goal of defeating an even larger threat: An advanced military-grade android known as Amelia, who was created using stolen technologies used to create M3GAN.
Alongside Williams, Amie Donald and Jenna Davis (as the physical portrayal and voice of M3GAN, respectively), returning cast members include Violet McGraw, Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps as Cady, Cole and Tess, respectively. Ivanna Sakhno (Pacific Rim Uprising) joins the cast as Amelia, alongside Timm Sharp (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) and comedians Aristotle Athari and Jemaine Clement. Gerard Johnstone will also return to direct the sequel.
M3GAN 2.0 will release in theatres on 27 June 2025, with its official blurb reading as follows:
Two years after M3GAN, a marvel of artificial intelligence, went rogue and embarked on a murderous (and impeccably choreographed) rampage and was subsequently destroyed, M3GAN’s creator Gemma has become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of A.I. Meanwhile, Gemma’s niece Cady, now 14, has become a teenager, rebelling against Gemma’s overprotective rules.
Unbeknownst to them, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia, the ultimate killer infiltration spy. But as Amelia’s self-awareness increases, she becomes decidedly less interested in taking orders from humans. Or in keeping them around.
With the future of human existence on the line, Gemma realizes that the only option is to resurrect M3GAN and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal. As their paths collide, the original A.I b**ch is about to meet her match.
