‘Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice’ Trailer Haunts With Another Jenna Ortega Dance Scene

Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to his 1988 cult classic, has just released its second trailer, revealing a plot that dives deep into familial bonds and supernatural antics. Set to hit theatres on 6 September, the film showcases a cast led by Michael Keaton returning as the notorious ghost Beetlejuice and Winona Ryder reprising her role as Lydia Deetz.

The new trailer teases an engaging mix of nostalgia and new twists. It opens with Lydia’s daughter, Astrid (played by Jenna Ortega), caught amidst the social trials of prep school life and mean-girl antics. Astrid, like her mother, finds herself an outsider and befriends a new character played by Arthur Conti, who reveals Lydia’s legendary status in their supernatural world.

The plot thickens when Lydia, compelled to protect her daughter, summons Beetlejuice to assist in rescuing Astrid from the clutches of the Neitherworld. This time, however, Beetlejuice appears to be a cooperative force as they face off against an evil entity named Delores, portrayed by Monica Bellucci, who harbours a past with Beetlejuice.

Doubts about Beetlejuice’s reliability linger, as Lydia, wary from their past dealings, questions his promise to help. The trailer highlights Beetlejuice’s dramatic assurance, swearing on his “dead mother’s soul” while humorously on fire, setting the tone for the film’s dark humour.

Additionally, the trailer hints at a dance sequence involving Astrid and Delia Deetz (Catherine O’Hara), evoking memories of the iconic scenes from the original film and that viral dance scene from Tim Burton’s Wednesday. New and returning characters, played by Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Danny DeVito, among others, add layers to the eerie and quirky universe Burton is known for.

Directed by Burton, the screenplay for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is penned by Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, with Seth Grahame-Smith also contributing to the film’s story. The producers include Burton, Dede Gardner, Tommy Harper, Jeremy Kleiner, and Marc Toberoff.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice not only promises to deliver a fresh chapter in the saga with its star-studded cast and intriguing storyline but also aims to recapture and expand upon the whimsical, macabre charm of the original film.
