What makes a monster? As the Poohniverse expands into darker territory, it’s Bambi who gets the spotlight. The adorable Disney icon has one of the more intense origin stories : the young stag witnesses the death of his mother at the hands of hunters, which is also the basis for Bambi: The Reckoning.
Unlike his Disney counterpart, this time, Bambi is a ruthless killing machine as a result of his mother’s death, going after the hunters that killed his mother and anyone associated with them. Xana (Roxanne McKee) and her son Benji (Tom Mulheron) who find themselves in a car wreck and soon hunted down by the vicious killing machine, Bambi, in a targeted attack.
Bambi can flip over cars now with his tough stag horns, and will destroy anything in his path, including vehicles, in a twist of irony. The film has no confirmed release date yet, but more details are expected soon enough.
The Poohniverse films will culminate in an Avengers-esque movie, assembling Bambi, Pooh, Tinkerbell, and other monstrous fairytale icons going on a twisted murder spree, and Bambi: The Reckoning is only the beginning of darker tidings to come.
