There will soon be a new ballerina in town, and she’s not someone to tango with. Ahead of this year’s CCXP, held from 5 to 8 December in Brazil, Lionsgate has revealed the first official poster for Ballerina, the highly-anticipated John Wick spin-off starring Ana de Armas, alongside a brand-new look of her character in action.
An enigmatic reveal that doesn’t give any story details away, the visual shows the No Time to Die actress wielding a gun, with a big tattoo spanning her back spelling out “Lux in Tenebris.” The Latin phrase translates to “light in darkness”, which ties into the film’s plot — in it, Eve Macarro (De Armas) steps into the world of assassins after witnessing the death of her father, kicking off her quest for vengeance.
A new look at Eve’s fighting chops was also shared, promising a return to the world of gun-fu and thrilling, frenetic action ranging from hand-to-hand combat to firearm shooting. This latest update comes after the first trailer for Ballerina, where she meets the Baba Yaga himself, played by Keanu Reeves once again, joining a star-studded ensemble cast comprising fresh and familiar faces.

Alongside the pair, the pic will make the return of Ian McShane as Winston, the Continental Hotel owner who meets Macarro during her youth; the late Lance Reddick as Charon, welcoming Macarro to the Continental as an adult; and Anjelica Huston returns as the Director of the Ruska Roma, who oversees Macarro’s transformation into a formidable assassin. Notable additions include Norman Reedus, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Gabriel Bryne, David Castañeda, Anne Parillaud, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster.
Directed by Lens Wiseman (Underworld), Ballerina is set between the events of the third movie and John Wick 4: Chapter 4 and was originally slated for a 2024 release. Franchise creator Chad Stahelski later revealed his involvement in polishing up the action scenes, leading to a delayed premiere. The film now opens on 6 June 2025.
