Riot Expands ‘League of Legends’ Universe With Trading Card Game

Riot Games is shuffling up its League of Legends universe with a physical trading card game in the works currently under the title “Project K“. Check out Riot’s video introduction to the game below:

Led by game director Dave Guskin and executive producer Chengran Chai, the game is described as a “social TCG”, and will feature alliances, backstabbing, and betrayals via competitive 1v1 and 2v2 matches. Riot has also clarified that Project K will not be a physical version of Legends of Luneterra, but will “inherit some of the rich champion design philosophies of lore.”

The studio has also assured fans that it will continually support Project K upon release, with aims to create a “thriving community” with a “competitive ecosystem”, with plans for national and global tournaments. Riot will be working with an unnamed partner for a China release in early 2025, and is currently finding the right publishing partners for a global release in the future.

To promote Project K, Riot will be featuring trial decks for players to try out at the upcoming Team Fight Tactics in Macao which takes place from 13 to 15 December, alongside taking pre-orders for a limited-edition Arcane Box Set in early 2025.
