‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Leads 2024 BAFTA Games Awards With 10 Nominations

The BAFTA Games Awards is turning 20 this year, and what better way to celebrate a significant milestone than having a strong lineup of contenders? Taking place on 11 April, the annual event has announced the nominations for its upcoming outing, reinforcing the exceptional quality of titles that released in 2023.

Baldur’s Gate 3 leads the pack with 10 nominations, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2 scoring eight and nine nods, respectively. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are tied at six each. Nintendo’s heavyweight will join Larian’s Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game in vying for the coveted Best Game accolade, alongside Alan Wake 2, Dave the Diver, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Outside of the AAA space, Tango Gameworks’ rhythm action game Hi-Fi Rush and Mintrocket’s Dave the Diver are nominated in five categories — one more than Cocoon, Dredge, and Viewfinder. More prominently, 11 out of 12 nominees in the performance categories are first-timers, including Sam Lake for Alan Wake 2; Amelia Tyler, Andrew Wincott, Neil Newbon, Samantha Béart, and Tracey Wiles for Baldur’s Gate 3; Ralph Ineson for Final Fantasy XIV; Cameron Monaghan and Debra Wilson for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor; and Tony Todd and Yuri Lowenthal for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
