The Baldur’s Gate series is known to be one of the most influential titles that revitalised the RPG genre, so it’s no surprise the recent announcement of Baldur’s Gate 3 has left many excited.
As it turns out, PC enthusiasts might just be able to get their hands on the Early Access of the game pretty soon. The keyword is ‘might’, because the outbreak of COVID-19 has resulted in some difficulties to the development process, such as motion capture.
Developer Larian Studios remains optimistic, however. “We’ve been hit like everybody else in the world,” CEO Swen Vincke explained, “Nonetheless, we managed to make a lot of progress, so we think we’re going to make it.”
August 2020 is the date the team is currently working towards, with more gameplay reveal set to come on 18 June via an upcoming live stream. Larian will continue to work on Baldur’s Gate 3 after it enters Early Access, which is certainly a good start.
