Apple Unveils iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max With 5G, Larger Display, and LiDAR Scanner

Apart from the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini, Apple has also announced the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max which both come with 5G support, as well as the flat edges that the standard iPhone 12 will also be coming in.

The 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max come with a 6.1-inch and 6,7-inch edge-to-edge Super Retina XDR display respectively, with the iPhone 12 Pro Max taking the title of being the biggest phone Apple has released to date.

The new Pro models will come fitted with Apple’s new A14 Bionic chip, which is touted as the “most powerful chip ever made” by Apple. It is also the first chip by Apple to use a 5nm process, and Apple promises that it will deliver up to 50% faster performance as compared to other phones.

Unique to the iPhone 12 Pro models is the LiDAR sensor which will help to give users a more immersive augmented reality experience. The sensor can also be used to help the phone’s camera focus in low-light situations, allowing for autofocus to happen up to six times faster in dimly lit areas.

As with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini, the iPhone 12 Pro will come with the Ceramic Shield which helps to prevent your phone from cracking when accidentally dropped.

Much like its predecessors, Apple will once again be offering a triple camera set up on the iPhone 12 Pro, a 12-megapixel f/1.6 wide camera, 52mm focal telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide camera.

If you’d like the camera on your phone to carry a little extra oomph to it, then you’ll want to check out the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It has a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with a 65mm focal length, that is capable of zooming up to 2.5-times. Its wide camera comes with a sensor which is 47% larger, meaning it is able to perform much better in low-light performances.

Aside from its cameras. Apple has also teased a new feature called Apple ProRAW which will be available on the 12 Pro models later this year.

The iPhone 12 Pro will retail from US$1,649 while the iPhone 12 Pro Max will retail from US$1,799, with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options.

Pre-orders from the iPhone 12 Pro will start on 16 October and it’ll ship by the week of 23 October. Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-orders on 6 November and will ship on 13 November.
