After a long wait, Apple has finally announced the long-awaited iPhone 12 which will be the first iPhone to come with 5G connectivity to help give users the chance to experience faster internet connectivity.
Not only that, this year’s iPhone 12 will also come with 3 different variants, the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Unlike its predecessor, the iPhone 12 will feature flat edges inside of the rounded ones we’ve seen on the iPhones for the past few years. This design is highly reminiscent of the iPad Air.
The iPhone 12 will come with a 6.1-inch OLED display. Though it retains the same screen size as the iPhone 11, Apple asserts that it is still smaller. Not only is it thinner, but it also features thinner screen bezels, and weighs less. Though it might be smaller, thinner, and lighter, Apple has made sure the phone will be able to withstand more than its fair share of drops through the new Ceramic Shield, made in partnership with Corning, that lets it be up to four times more drop-resistant.
Furthermore, Apple has outfitted the iPhone 12 with its new A14 Bionic chip that was first announced on the new iPad Air. Though it carries the same amount of CPU cores and GPU cores as the A12 and A13, it is more densely packed with transistors, with the A14 coming with 11.8 billion transistors. This means that the A14 will be significantly faster than the A13 whilst using less power.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Mini comes with a smaller 5.4-inch screen and comes with only Face ID. It also comes with significantly reduced bezels around the display. Apple claims that the 12 Mini is the “smallest, thinnest, and lightest” 5G phone in the world.
Much like the iPhone 12, the 12 Mini also comes with the A14 Bionic chip, which means this compact phone will be more than capable of playing console-level games without overworking itself.
Both the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini comes with a 12-megapixel f/1.6 main camera, and a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera. According to Apple, its main camera will come with a 27% improvement in low-light performances and the front camera will also come with a Night Mode.
The iPhone 12 will be priced from S$1,299, and the iPhone 12 Mini will be priced from S$1,149.
The iPhone 12 will be available for pre-order on 16 October and will ship from 23 October. Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Mini will be available for pre-order on 6 November and will ship from 13 November.
