Apple has launched one of its biggest updates yet for its free Apple Sports iPhone app, expanding availability to over 90 new countries and regions, including Singapore.

As announced via Apple’s Newsroom, the app, which gives sports fans access to real-time scores and stats, is now available to download in more than 170 countries and regions worldwide. This update also comes just in time for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place from 11 June to 19 July 2026, helping fans get ready for the big event by allowing them to stay on top of the entire tournament or their favourite national teams easily.
Built as a second-screen experience to track the action during sporting events, the Apple Sports app allows users to craft their own personalised scoreboards, placing their favourite team or leagues front and centre and prioritising how events are organised and displayed. To get ready for the World Cup, fans can also explore tournament groupings and customise their scoreboards, making it easier to keep track of key moments.
For further flexibility across the entire Apple ecosystem, following a team using the Apple Sports app also enables Live Activities, which provides notifications on a user’s iPhone lock screen or their Apple Watch, allowing them to stay updated with matches at a glance. Users can also add widgets to their iPhone, iPad or MacBook homescreens, tracking the progress of the tournament in real time.

Additionally, some new features have also been added to the app, including the tournament bracket view, which gives users a clean, scrollable view of matchups and results from each round to track their team’s progression, alongside enhanced game cards which feature visual formations for each team’s starting lineup, providing deeper tactical insight ahead of matches.
“The World Cup unites fans across the globe, making it the ideal moment to bring Apple Sports to even more users,” said Apple’s vice president of Music, Sports, Apple TV, and Beats, Oliver Schusser in a statement. “Apple Sports was designed to be fast and simple, giving fans an easy way to stay on top of scores, stats, and the action that matters most in real time.”
The Apple Sports app is now available in Singapore and can be downloaded for free on the App Store.
