Apple Expected To Line Up iPad Pro With M2 Chip For Fall 2022

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who has a history of accurate reporting on Apple’s product plans, stated in his ‘Power On’ newsletter that the next-generation iPad Pro models will likely launch in the fall of this year.

iPad Pro 2021

This comes after Apple did not unveil a new iPad Pro at its March ‘Peek Performance’ virtual event (Apple announced its latest iPad Air, Mac Studio Desktop, and iPhone SE). Since iPad Pro was first launched in March 2016, Apple has historically taken between 13 and 16 months to update this product line. Following this cycle, the iPad Pro is due for an update, with fall 2022 now being the likeliest timeline.

Gurman also stated that the new iPad Pro models will have Apple’s M2 chip and wireless MagSafe charging. The M2 chip is likely to have the same 8-core CPU as the ‌M1‌, but with speed and efficiency improvements due to TSMC’s 4-nanometer process; and with 9- and 10-core GPU options, compared to the 7- and 8-core GPU options in the ‌‌M1‌‌ chip.
