Anjali Bhimani is joining Disney+‘s upcoming Ms. Marvel series. The actress is best known for her work in the video game sphere as Symmetra in Overwatch and Rampart in Apex Legends. She also played Mita Nansari in Marvel’s Runaways.
According to Deadline, Bhimani will play a recurring role in the series. Her exact role is still kept under wraps. Bhimani joins previously announced Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan and Aramis Knight as Kareem/Red Dagger.
Other cast members include Saagar Shaikh as Amir Khan, Mohan Kapoor as Yusuf Khan, Rish Shah as Kamran, Zenobia Shroff as Muneeba Khan, Yasmeen Fletcher as Nakia Bahadir, Travina Springer as Tyesha Hillman and Laith Nakli as Sheikh Abdullah and more.
Ms. Marvel follows the rise of Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager from New Jersey who becomes a superhero after receiving her own set of shape-shifting powers. Although not much else is known about the series’s plot, early set images reveal drones similar to that in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Kamala is Marvel’s first on-screen Muslim hero and is slated to appear in the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels.
Ms. Marvel is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah of Bad Boys For Life, and is set to release sometime in 2022. The six-episode series is a string of projects that will introduce a range of characters to the MCU, which includes the upcoming She-Hulk and the Oscar Isaac-led Moon Knight series that’s releasing on 30 March 2022.
