Amidst U.S. Tariff War, Netflix Singapore Sets Price Hike

It’s that time of the year — not annual celebrations or yearly traditions, but price hikes. Amid a troubled global landscape brought on by the U.S. tariff war, Netflix Singapore has raised subscription prices for its plans, starting with S$15.98 per month.

This marks a S$2 increase, with the Premium tier subjected to the biggest jump. At $29.98, it sets members back by S$4 per month, in exchange for ultra HD streaming quality, support for up to four screens, downloads on six devices, spatial sound, and the feature to add non-family members.

Here’s a breakdown of the new prices:

Plan TierOld PriceRevised Price
Basic (one screen)S$13.98S$15.98
Standard (two screens)S$19.98S$22.98
Premium (four screens)S$25.98S$29.98

“We offer a range of prices and plans to meet a variety of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members, we occasionally ask them to pay a bit more,” said Netflix to CNA Lifestyle.

This comes after a previous mark-up in February last year, which saw plans going up to S$26 at its highest tier. Since the streamer’s launch in Singapore in 2016, four separate price hikes have come into effect: the first in 2020, followed by 2021, 2024, and now, April 2025.

With inflation hitting hard, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to justify these raises. Whether the current catalogue is enough reason remains subjective, and it’s unclear if other markets will also be affected. All eyes are on the U.S. — while the tariffs are only imposed on physical goods, it’s never a nice feeling having to pay more.
