For fans of the House of Mouse, there’s no more significant event than the annual D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, where the biggest news and reveals take to the stage. This year’s iteration, taking place from 14 to 16 August in Anaheim, California, had plenty to show, with a full-house attendance treated to first looks at highly anticipated sequels, new project announcements, special guest appearances, and more.

Starting with the Marvel slate, the X-Men and Avengers will reassemble to lead the superhero charge, while a galaxy far, far away is set to explore new stories and continue existing ones. The number ‘3’ was a recurring theme for the animated world of Pixar Studios, featuring threequels for Frozen, Zootopia, and The Incredibles, and joined by several original works. Among the most surprising announcements is the Kingdom Hearts series for Disney+, coming 25 years after the debut of the first entry in Square Enix’s popular video game franchise.
Over on the Disney Experiences Showcase front, upcoming additions include new Disney Cruise Line ships, following the Disney Adventure’s maiden voyage from Singapore earlier in March, a Tomorrowland overhaul at Disneyland, a Coco-themed ride at California Adventure, a Monsters, Inc. zone in Hollywood Studios, three new rides at Animal Kingdom in Orlando, and a villains-inspired expansion of Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Here’s the full film and TV lineup that was showcased at D23 2026.

Avengers: Doomsday
The Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are reuniting in Avengers: Doomsday, but things are certainly not looking up for them. Offering the best look yet at Robert Downey Jr.’s take on Doctor Doom, this special look highlights how big a threat the villain is, as he goes from a caring and kind individual — as described by The Fantastic Four’s Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) — to the all-powerful entity with an army of Sentinels at his command.”Hell answers to me, for I am Doom,” declares Doom. Literal chills.
The hotly anticipated superhero outing hits the silver screen on 18 December.
New X-Men casting

The cat is finally out of the bag. Following years of scarce updates, the cast of the upcoming X-Men film reboot from Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier has been revealed, led by Sadie Sink as Jean Grey. Joining the next generation of mutants are Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm, who have to band together against a new sinister figure: Adam Driver’s Nathaniel Milbury.
The untitled film is slated for theatrical release on 5 May 2028.
VisionQuest
Bringing a close to what’s termed the “Wanda trilogy,” VisionQuest sees the return of Paul Bettany’s Vision, who’s undergoing an identity crisis as he attempts to make sense of his memories gained in the finale of 2021’s WandaVision. Along the way, he encounters the human avatars of other Marvel artificial intelligence personas, including Iron Man’s trusty partner J.A.R.V.I.S. (James D’Arcy), F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Orla Brady), E.D.I.T.H (Emily Hampshire), and, surprise, surprise, Ultron (James Spader), the Avengers big bad introduced in Age of Ultron and defeated by Vision himself.
The spin-off series premieres on Disney+ on 14 October.

Frozen 3
Love is in the air, with Kristen Bell’s Anna marrying love interest Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) in Frozen 3, but it seems that’ll have to be put on hold. As seen in the D23 trailer, a new mysterious evil whose powers rival Elsa’s is gearing up to gatecrash the wedding, and fans can expect a new song from Bell and Idina Menzel, as well as a romantic ditty hinting at a romance for Olaf, in the upcoming threequel.
The directorial effort from Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy debuts on 24 November 2027.
Zootopia 3
Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps are back on the case in Zootopia 3! Announced to be in early development, the third instalment will introduce birds, just like how the long-awaited sequel explored snakes as a new species, as established by the appearance of a feather in Zootopia 2‘s post-credits scene. Good news for fans of Ke Huy Quan’s reptilian character — Gary De’Snake is set to join the pair for their next adventure, though the extent of its involvement is unclear.
No release window was given, but there are sky-high expectations to meet, especially since the sophomore title is now the highest-earning Hollywood animated film to date with a US$1.8 billion global gross.
Incredibles 3
While Incredibles 3 will still be a family affair, Pixar’s chief creative officer Pete Docter teased that Violet and Dash, the two eldest children of the superpowered family, are at the centre of the narrative. Voiced by Sarah Vowell and Huck Milner, respectively, they are on a quest to prove they can follow in their parents’ footsteps as big-time Supers, with all-new concept art showing off the sheer might of Bob (Craig Nelson).
The threequel arrives in theatres on 16 June 2028. Brad Bird, who directed the past two instalments, won’t be at the helm this time (that role goes to Soul‘s Peter Sohn), but remains involved as a writer.
Coco 2
The Land of the Dead is opening its doors again, and Miguel won’t be the only familiar face there. Now a teenager with a fade haircut in Coco 2, he will soon be joined by Ernesto de la Cruz, the antagonist of the first film, who’s back for revenge, as described by returning actor Benjamin Bratt on stage. It will bow in November 2029, and additional details, including story specifics, are kept under wraps for now.
Gatto
Cats run the world in Gatto. The forthcoming original film from Pixar has dropped some new art featuring street-smart Venetian stray cat Nero, voiced by Mark Ruffalo, and mob boss puffball (Laurence Fishburne), to whom the former is indebted. As the feline begins to question whether he’s lived the right lives, he finds an unlikely friendship with street musician Maya. The animated feature heads to the silver screen on 5 March 2027.
Ghost Market
The second original work on the list and Pixar’s first foray into the supernatural, Ghost Market follows Kyle, a young boy living in Hawaii as he stumbles upon a haunted market, only to discover that the presence of “hungry ghosts” makes it less scary than those in other horror movies. A Spring 2028 release has been set for the film.
Disney Live-Action & Animation
Lilo & Stitch 2
‘Ohana’ means family, and Stitch will find his getting bigger in Disney’s sequel to the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake. Set to begin production in Hawaii later this year, Lilo & Stitch 2 puts the live-action version of the blue alien’s love interest, Angel, into focus, with main star Kaia Kealoha reprising her role. The Chris Sanders-directed follow-up is slated for release on 26 May 2028.
Tangled

Rapunzel is the latest of the Disney princesses to get the live-action treatment. Starring Teagan Croft as the long-haired protagonist, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel, Tangled serves as a retelling of the beloved 2010 animated film, which is itself loosely based on Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale. It’s currently in production and will hit theatres on 31 March 2028.
Ice Age: Boiling Point
The resident acorn lover in the Ice Age movies is back in Boiling Point, but don’t expect him to look the same as before. The first film in the franchise since 2016 introduces Jurassic Scrat, the prehistoric cousin of Scrat and Baby Scrat, while the main crew of Manny, Sid, Diego, and Ellie heads into uncharted regions of the dangerous Lost World. Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah all reprise their respective roles in it, which releases on 5 February 2027.
The New Simpsons Movie
Coming 20 years after Homer’s near-destruction of Springfield, early footage of The Simpsons Movie shows Dan Castellaneta’s iconic character chasing after a baseball, only for all hell to break loose — in good ol’ The Simpsons fashion. The town’s most famous family returns to the big screen on 3 September 2027.
The Bluey Movie
Marking a departure from its usual 2D animation, The Bluey Movie has unveiled a first look at its CG stylings, alongside footage of Bluey and Bingo chasing giant red balloons in a game of Keepy Uppy. The feature, written and directed by creator Joe Brumm, is due to bow on 6 August 2027.
Lucasfilm
Ahsoka Season 2
Following the next chapter of Ahsoka Tano’s journey, Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 sees the titular character (Rosario Dawson) and her Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) travel across a mysterious world to find their way home, as Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and his allies look to wreck havoc on New Republic. Expect plenty of lightsaber action and Anakin Skywalker flashbacks when the show airs on 20 January 2027.
Star Wars: Starfighter

Making his way from one intergalactic adventure to another is Ryan Gosling, who plays pilot Kade Auberon in Star Wars: Starfighter. Directed by Shawn Levy, the standalone pic is set five years after the events of 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, and also stars Flynn Gray as a young boy seen playing with a decommissioned starfighter jet in the trailer. It will take flight in theatres on 28 May 2027.

Kingdom Hearts animated series

Sora is getting his own animated series, and he’s not leaving his trusty Keyblade behind. While additional details, including story specifics and a release date, are under wraps, the beloved protagonist is featured in a first-look image for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts series, based on Square Enix’s popular JRPG series. Both the studio and creator Tetsuya Nomura are involved in the project, which is described as a reimagining of the “iconic adventure with a brand-new story that will expand on the universe of Kingdom Hearts while celebrating the characters that have captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world.”
Separately, an extended gameplay trailer for the highly-anticipated Kingdom Hearts 4 was also revealed, teasing a new world inspired Pixar’s Coco, a fresh version of the Heartless in Quadratum, and the ability to Mickey and Goofy outside of combat, as well as fight alongside other characters on the battlefield. The sequel is slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S in late 2027.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3
An adaptation of Rick Riordan’s ‘The Titan’s Curse’ novel, the third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians takes the titular character on yet another quest, accompanied by his trusty satyr bestie Grover (Aryan Simhadri), as well as new arrivals Thalia Grace (Tamara Smart) and Bianca de Angelo (Olive Abercrombie) at his side. This time, the stakes are higher than ever, as they are going up against the forces of Kronos, who have captured Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries).
Get ready for the hurt, as it returns to Disney+ on 20 November.
