‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Surpasses US$2B Box Office Milestone In 2 Weeks

Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has set yet another record, becoming one of just eight films to reach the coveted US$2 billion club with a total global box office of US$2.022 billion after two weeks.

As reported by Variety, the latest web-slinging adventure has garnered US$785 million in North America and US$1.23 billion overseas after three weekends of release, making it the second-fastest film to hit the US$2 billion box office milestone after 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which achieved it in 11 days.

With its latest achievement, Spider-Man: Brand New Day now sits proudly among the eight films that have hit the impressive milestone, which includes 2009’s Avatar (US$2.9 billion), Avengers: Endgame (US$2.7 billion), 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water (US$2.3 billion), 2025’s Ne Zha 2 (US$2.27 billion), 1994’s Titanic (US$2.2 billion), 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens (US$2.07 billion) and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War (US$2.03 billion).

This comes after Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s already impressive run, opening to an amazing US$927 million global haul over its launch weekend, and subsequently hitting US$1.67 billion over its second weekend. The film is already the eighth-biggest worldwide release in history, and considering its staying power over three weekends, all eyes are on the film to see if it can surpass Avatar and Avengers: Endgame as the top-grossing film of all time.

Directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings helmer Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows the “most truthful version” of the webslinger (Tom Holland) as he continues to protect New York City anonymously and investigates a powerful new threat, all while his superpowers undergo a surprising and potentially dangerous evolution. Also reprising their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are Mark Ruffalo, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Jon Bernthal, joining newcomers Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colon-Zayas, Marvin Jones, and more.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day might already be breaking records, but another Marvel film will undoubtedly be breaking records of its own, Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to see three superhero franchises – the X-Men, the Avengers, and the New Avengers- taking on Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom in a superhero epic that is sure to smash all kinds of box office milestones when it launches on 18 December 2026.
