The V/H/S found-footage horror anthology franchise is crossing over to a new universe of internet fame with V/H/S: SCP, the upcoming film based on the titular Special Containment Procedures Foundation.

As reported by Variety, this latest instalment hails from indie studio Spooky Pictures and Image Nation, with franchise veterans Josh Goldbloom (V/H/S/94, V/H/S/Halloween) and Michael Schreiber (V/H/S/Beyond) attached as producers. The project will also mark the first time SCP Foundation, the long-running online collective fiction project, will be making its way to the big screen.
The SCP Foundation began in 2008 as a collaborative digital project and has since grown into a large community-driven collection of horror and science fiction stories. The fictional foundation is a clandestine organisation dedicated to containing anomalous objects, entities, and phenomena, with hundreds of authors around the world “documenting” the existence of these fictional terrors in an extensive online database.
Over the years, these user-submitted stories have garnered a cult following online, inspiring the creation of video games, web series and short films based on the SCP universe. Notable SCP entries include SCP-096 (The Shy Guy), a large humanoid that hunts whoever looks at it to the ends of the earth, SCP-3008 (A Perfectly Normal, Regular Old IKEA), an infinite, spatial-anomalous IKEA store populated by lost shoppers, ancient tribes, and hostile, faceless employees, and SCP-173 (The Sculpture), a statue that can only move when not in direct line of sight.

The V/H/S franchise, on the other hand, is a found-footage horror anthology franchise that debuted in 2012, with each film consisting of short standalone clips. This format makes it a perfect fit for the SCP universe, with V/H/S: SCP framed as “recovered field documentation” or video evidence gathered, redacted and archived by the secretive organisation, with each segment focusing on a separate entity. The film is set for release sometime in 2027.
