Amazon Prime Video has released its first look at Mike Flanagan’s (The Haunting of Hill House) upcoming Carrie series, which marks the first time Stephen King’s classic novel is being made into a TV series.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the reimagined series will premiere on Prime Video in Fall 2026 across over 240 countries and territories worldwide and will consist of eight episodes that expand upon King’s story about a girl who goes on a rampage after developing telekinetic powers. Summer Howell (Hunter Hunter) will portray the titular Carrie White in the upcoming series.
“Misfit high‑schooler Carrie White has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan),” reads the show’s synopsis. “After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.”

In addition to being the series’ showrunner, Flanagan will also serve as its writer and executive producer and will direct four of its episodes. Carrie will also star Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.
The original Carrie novel was published in 1974 and quickly became a New York Times bestseller. The novel would go on to receive its first film adaptation in 1976, which starred Sissy Spacek, with a sequel, The Rage: Carrie 2, released in 1999, followed by two reboots – one in 2002 starring Angela Bettis, and another in 2010 starring Chloë Grace Moretz.
