‘Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered’ Revisits Kaiju Brawler Chaos This Nov

In a pleasant surprise for kaiju fans, Atari and Pipeworks Studios have unveiled Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, the remaster (as the name suggests) of the original kaiju brawler hit.

Coming hot on the heels of a recent leak, the trailer drop features updated visuals and modernised gameplay across Destruction Mode, local co-op, the new Versus or Melee online multiplayer experiences, and more. The unlock system has also been improved, with 12 monsters to choose from and wreak devastation, including the King of Monsters himself, King Ghidorah, and a never-before-seen playable version of Mechagodzilla — each of which will have its own single-player campaign.

The official description reads, “The ultimate kaiju arena brawler is back, completely remastered. From Atari and original developer Pipeworks, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered updates the 2002 fighter with enhanced visuals and quality-of-life improvements. Choose your monster and battle it out with a range of brutal attacks through 8 locations, each with day and night variations. Battle through real-world cities, Monster Island, and the alien Mothership. Face off against your friends in local co-op or new online multiplayer.”

The title hits PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 3 November, the month that developers are skirting due to the highly anticipated arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6. Originally launched in 2002, the cult-classic brawler sees players stepping into the shoes of a monster that broke free from the Vortaak’s control, after the alien race invaded Earth and assumed control of the planet’s creatures, sending them to attack cities across the globe. A sequel, Godzilla: Save the Earth, was released in 2004.
