‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ Still On Track For Fall 2025 Launch, Says Take-Two CEO

Fan or not, there’s no denying the hype for Grand Theft Auto 6. After the announcement trailer for the long-awaited sequel surpassed a record-breaking 90 million views in 24 hours, publisher Take-Two Interactive doubled down on its Fall 2025 release window.

One year later, a second trailer is nowhere in sight and updates are sparse, sparking concerns over a possible delay. It seems they are unwarranted for now, as CEO Strauss Zelnick has insisted that the previous announced window remains unchanged.

“Look, there’s always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like ‘absolutely’, you jinx things,” he said to IGN. “So we feel really good about it.”

“I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally. We know that (developer) Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I’m fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we’re all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organisation is super excited,” added Zelnick.

Story details about Grand Theft Auto 6 are being kept under wraps, but it will be set in modern-day Leonida, a fictionalised version of Florida, and feature the protagonist pair of Lucia and Jason. The title will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S when it launches this fall, with no word on a PC release just yet.

Take-Two also reported that Grand Theft Auto 5 has now sold a whopping 210 million units worldwide, alongside a “strong” quarter for GTA Online and a 10 percent year-over-year increase in GTA+ memberships.
