First ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ Exhibition With Original Artwork Coming To Tokyo In Winter 2026

Three decades after introducing the duelling way of life, Yu-Gi-Oh! is getting the artistic celebration it deserves. In celebration of the milestone, the first-ever exhibition of creator Kazuki Takahashi’s original artworks will be held in Tokyo this winter, with more information to come in late August.

The event is set to feature rare illustrations, production materials from the conceptual phase, rough sketches of characters and monsters, and, of course, exclusive merchandise. A teaser visual was unveiled alongside the announcement on X/Twitter, featuring protagonist Yugi Moto looking up at a dangling Millennium Puzzle, the artifact he wears in the series:

Shunsuke Kazama, who voiced Yugi in the anime, left a congratulatory message on the official website: “I’m really looking forward to Takahashi-sensei’s original artwork exhibition. Through Yu-Gi-Oh!, Sensei crafted a story that transcends time and space, bringing souls back to life. I believe that as long as we continue to love his art and his stories, Takahashi-sensei’s spirit will return to this world time and time again. I can’t wait to experience his many works and connect with his spirit.”

“I once saw Kazuki Takahashi signing autograph boards. Not only did he sign them, but he also drew illustrations. It was like magic. In an instant, Yugi and Kaiba would rise up, full of energy. At the wrap party for the movie, where people had had a little to drink, he signed many autograph boards for the anime staff, using a marker instead of his usual pen,” added Kenjiro Tsuda, voice of Yugi’s arch-rival Seto Kaiba.

“Even though these weren’t his 100% best work, seeing the real thing in person was incredibly powerful. As I stood beside him, genuinely amazed, he seemed embarrassed because he’s a bit shy. Duelists! You’re about to see the artist’s serious original artwork! Go and see it! Kazuki Takahashi is still alive and well!”

The news comes after an earlier crossover between the trading card game franchise and instant ramen brand Nissin, held as a double-anniversary celebration. The original work was serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1996 to 2004, spawning multiple spin-off manga, anime series, video games, and a real-world card game based on the fictional Duel Monsters. The first anime series adaptation aired in 1998, while its sequel ran from 2000 to 2004.

In 2011, Yu-Gi-Oh! was recognised by Guinness World Records as the “world’s best-selling trading card game” after surpassing 25.17 billion cards. Takahashi unfortunately passed on in 2022 while attempting to rescue three people caught in a rip current in a popular diving spot in Okinawa.

The Kazuki Takahashi Original Art Exhibition: Yu-Gi-Oh! Art Works will land in Tokyo in Winter 2026, with no plans to bring it overseas.
